Why did CM Punk choose Kenny Omega and The young Bucks?
There are two primary reasons he selected them.
First, CM Punk does not want to return to wrestling if there is not an interesting story to tell. Now, he believes that currently AEW has the potential to create an interesting storyline for him as opposed to WWE.
Second, he wants to wrestle someone new. He has wrestled almost everyone in WWE. However, there are talents in AEW who haven’t been in the ring with him.
In fact, he explains to Renee Young that even though Jon Moxley is in AEW, he does not want to wrestle him. He already had his run with Moxley in WWE. He wants to be in the ring with someone new and with an interesting and fun storyline.
The Best in the World’s last WWE match
It’s been a while since CM Punk has been in the ring. The last time he was inside the squared circle was back in 2014 when he competed at the Royal Rumble.
He was a part of the thirty-man match. Unfortunately, he suffered a severe concussion during the match. While the doctors did the bare minimum to help him, Kane got a hold of Punk and threw him into the announcers table.
Following this incident, Punk left WWE. However, Vince McMahon and Triple H had tried to get him back. Upon his refusal, the company announced that Punk was not a part of WWE anymore, on his wedding day.
The Authorities have claimed that this resulted from a mix-up, but the ex-Superstar believes it was intentional.
Punk’s legal battle with WWE
This point onwards, WWE and CM Punk had their fair share of fights, including a legal battle.
WWE had included CM Punk’s name in the WWE 2k15 video game. Punk believed that WWE was going to profit from CM Punk’s name, and he was entitled to the royalties. A group of lawyers fought for him, and he revealed that the company had given him what he wanted.

There’s a reason they say that the fans make the Superstars who they are. Even after he quit, the fans were chanting Punk’s name during WWE’s Chicago tour in 2014.
Even though Stephanie McMahon drowned the chants, his fans continued to dote on his every move, hoping someday he will return to the ring.
