As a recent development, we have come to know that Spears has been removed from the AEW roster. He has also deactivated his Twitter and set his Instagram to private. Could it be a new angle or is Spears done with AEW for real?

Spears, who worked as Tye Dillinger and Gavin Spears in WWE, was one of the first AEW members. He debuted in the pre-show Battle Royale of their inaugural pay-per-view event, Double or Nothing.

He was involved in a feud with AEW EVP, Cody Rhodes. Then, he aligned himself with Tully Blanchard. Spears had rivalries with the likes of Dustin Rhodes and Joey Janela.

Is Shawn Spears out of AEW?

As we mentioned earlier, Spears hit AEW with a controversial promo. He discarded the loaded black glove given by Blanchard; Blackjack Mulligan and Ted DiBiase used to wear a similar glove back in the day. Blanchard probably hinted at Spears’ future greatness with the glove.

Spears said in the interview, “I bet on myself. I left New York, and the grass isn’t always greener. You can change the three letters, but you can’t change the glass ceiling.”

I am more talented than 95% of this roster and any other roster on this planet today. I look better, I work better, and I damn sure talk better, so I don’t know why everybody is trying to work me into this thought that I’m not.

If you can’t find five minutes a week for a guy that’s got 19 years under his belt and checks every single box across the board on what it requires to be a television star, then yeah, there’s a problem,” Spears said.

Spears concluded, “Despite walking into AEW hot as hell, by the way, only to find myself digging out of a hole for 18 months that Tony Khan and his favorite EVP Cody pushed me into.

AEW could go for an anti-authority gimmick for Spears like what CM Punk did in WWE. Let us know your thoughts on this angle in the comments below.
