Chris Jericho assumed the role of Santa Claus. The former AEW Champion is AEW’s Santa Claus, gifting himself to the brand and dedicating his last years of his career to increasing AEW’s legitimacy as a pro wrestling powerhouse.
SCU’s Frankie Kazarian played the role of an elf. The story of Kazarian requiring anger management is one of the funniest running gags on the Being The Elite YouTube series. Featuring on the BTE channel has proven to be a platform for Kazarian to show off his acting chop.
The most recent addition to the Inner Circle played the role of the clueless kid who cannot decide what he wants for Christmas. MJF sits on Y2J’s lap as the legend pesters him. After being given a football and getting chucked out of the ring by Kazarian, he clings to the ropes and asks Santa for a rifle. “You’ll shoot your eye out, son,” was Santa’s last words as MJF tumbled to the outside.
AEW’s defining moments of 2020
With the year ending, it’s safe to say that AEW have had a fairly satisfying year. The global pandemic crapped all over Blood and Guts, Double or Nothing bottled, and Dynamite missed its raucous audience. However, AEW still put on some truly incredible moments in 2020.
The Young Bucks vs Hangman Page and Kenny Omega was an early Match of the Year contender. Both teams wrestled at breakneck speed, showcasing their innovative offence, while keeping up with the storytelling details of the match. The champs retained, but the Bucks came out of it as the best tag team in the world.
Stadium Stampede was an unusual concept at the beginning. Once the match begun, we loved every second of it. A true masterpiece of garbage wrestling, the Inner Circle and The Elite put on an incredible performance that rivaled the Undertaker and AJ Styles’ Boneyard match at WrestleMania.
