AEW achieved yet another incredible feat with its ‘Blood and Guts’ special episode on Wednesday. The show garnered a million viewers and got the top spot on the Cable Top 150 this week for the first time.

The episode, headlined by the eponymous match between AEW superstars MJF and Chris Jericho’s stables, got a viewership of 1.090 million, according to Showbuzz Daily.

Last week’s episode went up against President Joe Biden’s address to Congress, hence the decline in viewership with 889,000 viewers. This is also the third time AEW got a million views, following WWE NXT’s shift to Tuesday Night.

Last week’s show got ranked #10 with a 0.33 rating in the key 18-49 demographic, compared to this week. The rating was up 27.3% from last week’s g0-home show.

Sammy Guevara shares a graphic photo from AEW last night, MJF reacts

After tonight’s intense and physical match, Superstars came out bruised and scarred. Although there were no major injuries reported, Inner Circle member Sammy Guevara shared a picture of his stitches.

Cash Wheeler responded with “stitches are for bi*ches” as he shared a gif of him busted open during the match.

MJF responded with a series of Tweets. He started with a simple ‘thank you.’ Then, he said, “Shawn Spears is a God” and Pinnacle is “the greatest faction in professional wrestling.”

He also shared a picture from the top of the steel cage where he threw Chris Jericho off and claimed, “Your spot’s mine.” You can check all the tweets below –

Despite the good reception, there was some controversy over the conclusion of the match. As MJF shoved Jericho off the steel cage, Jericho fell onto fake steel ramps made of cardboard. AEW exposed this because of the camera angle.
