In an unprecedented set of events, the Call of Duty community showed their disappointment regarding the game’s newest addition. Fans have been clamoring for Activision to fix the major underlying issues present in League Play. Black Ops Cold War announced League Play a week ago, saying that it will launch on February 8.
Following fans’ excitement for the mode’s release, the game ran into instant trouble. It all began after Treyarch announced that the mode will follow suit with the awful league ranking system of Black Ops IV. Players were unhappy with the ranking system in the game and had hoped that there would be a new system.

Major problems for Activision regarding League Play
In Cold War League Play system, players earn gems and need to place in the top 25 of their division to rank up. The community believes that this system favors players who play longer periods over those with skill. Another major issue with the new league play arises with including overpowered scorestreaks that in the game.
Well that’s the issue man, it’s a league play and not a ranked play.
Games like CS, Valorant, and League all thrive because they have RANKED that you want to push yourself to improve at and rank up. You want to show it off to your peers on your profile. CoD needs to adapt

The scorestreaks have been added because of the game, allowing for custom weapon classes and blueprints contrary to fans’ requests. Gears and perks also stay in this mode, which the community hoped would be not allowed. Players especially wanted this to happen for the exclusion of overpowered items such as Jammers and Lawbreakers.
Hackers and no OP guns / perks / streaks banned is not a good look for league play… but ima still grind it today 😅 https://t.co/im32tZOeG7

Streak System and Custom Classes
The game will also have the score streak system from Casual modes that do not reset upon death. They have also allowed custom classes in the game, but supposedly, it will reset to default classes that the pros use in CDL. Players are also unhappy with the lenient punishment for players leaving matches in the game, and the community wishes that Activision will change it soon.

Activision couldn’t have asked for a more troubling release for the game, and fans hope that major changes arrive soon. However, it seems like players might have to adjust with most of the game’s new system for a long while.
