RFK Racing has had two memorable weekends at Richmond and Michigan, respectively. Chris Buescher and teammate Brad Keselowski finished in the top five at the Michigan International Speedway. Fans and experts were left impressed, not just with Buescher but with the entirety of the RFK Racing team.

On a recent episode of the NASCAR on NBC podcast, Nate Ryan and NASCAR analyst Steve Letarte discussed the rise of RFK Racing in the past couple of weeks, and both believed that one of the reasons was the aesthetic changes Brad Keselowski made to the RFK office. While talking about the team, Nate Ryan first mentioned that Keselowski ensured that there was a lot of reinvestment in the team and that the money was spent in the right areas.

Steve Letarte chimed in with his opinion about the changes Brad Keselowski has brought to RFK Racing. He mentioned that while those changes do not have a direct impact on the performance of the car, they do play a part in motivating the drivers and the crew to perform to the best of their abilities and more.

“I had a very candid conversation with someone four or five years ago after an event at Roush and you’re gonna laugh but I’ll never forget. We went into this area and it was nice, it was kind of all polished up, it was their museum area and we had this break and we stepped off that area and we went into the little restroom area and it looked like you were at a truck stop off I-95,”  he said, speaking about the earlier condition of the RFK Racing shop.

“I’ve been to Team Penske, I’ve been to Joe Gibbs, I’ve been to Hendrick Motorsports. I mean you could eat off the floors in the showroom. Does that make them faster? No. But that’s a brick in the wall of culture.”

“Like if the floor can’t be shiny how do you even think the detail on the race car is gonna matter? The floor is easy. All you have to do is mop it and paint it. So if you can’t get the simple stuff right, how can you ever get the hard stuff right,” the NASCAR analyst added.

Letarte then went on to say Brad Keselowski has played it smart when it comes to remodeling RFK Racing. He has worked with the likes of Rick Hendrick and Roger Penske and has implemented their ideas in his team in his own way.

“And it’s no shock that Brad has worked for Mr Hendrick and worked for Mr Penske and he’s doing it his own way like I’m not trying to give these re-buildings to Roger or to Rick as genius as they are. What Brad has done is he’s put Brad’s spin on what he’s learned from those titans of the industry,” he said.

Before the NASCAR analyst opined his thoughts about Keselowski and the changes he has made toward the betterment of RFK Racing, Nate Ryan mentioned how drastically things have changed.

“After Chris Buescher’s victory, he said that Keselowski not only did he ensure there was a lot of re-investment in the team, that they’re spending more money, they’re spending in the right areas, but Scott Graves talks about aesthetically like what Brad has done,” Nate Ryan said.

Ryan talked about their experience in the RFK Racing shop and the changes Brad Keselowski has brought forth.

“Scott Graves was saying, a few years ago if you came to Roush Fenway, it wasn’t a place where you’d want to take photos and put it out on social media. Now, like everything’s painted. There’s a fresh sheen, a fresh coat that’s been applied to a shop that’s been around a long time and had a lot of success in the past and now is re-discovering that success,” added Nate Ryan.
