Moreover, they had an in-depth conversation about painkiller issues, where Joe Rogan revealed his horrible experience with painkillers which prompted him to never use them again.
Apart from discussing his addiction, Joe Rogan also talked about the overwhelming number of texts and emails he receives daily. He shared his difficulty in managing and responding to all of them. Joe Rogan, who does these activities daily, shared how he motivates himself to continue even on days he doesn’t feel like it.
Joe Rogan reveals his problems with Painkillers

The American podcaster revealed in episode #1942 that he has had three knee surgeries up till now, and struggled with painkillers. This is quite common among MMA fighters, a sport with high risk, and high reward. Moreover, fighters often end up sustaining injuries that require surgery, leading to painkillers, in order to recover from the same. However, this poses a threat of addiction, as painkillers are infamous as highly addictive substances.
He said, “But they gave it to me and I remember sitting on my couch feeling so stupid. I’m like, oh my god, i’m never taking this again. I’d be like rather be in agony than deal with this. but that’s just me. My chemistry doesn’t work with those things. I don’t like it.”
Rogan had his first knee surgery back in 1993. At that time the 55-year-old had such a bad experience with painkillers like Vicodin, that he decided never to take them again. He also recalls how one of his friends, Brendan Schaub, got addicted to painkillers without even realizing it.

A close friend of Rogan and former UFC fighter Brendan Schaub once fought Mirko Cro Cop. He went on to win the fight, but during the battle, Cro Cop hit him with a devastating throw, which broke his nose. While recovering from the same, he didn’t realize that he had gotten addicted to painkillers.

He said, “And he was just popping them all day and than he finally, one of his friends was like hey man, how many f*cking pills you taking? Like what are you doing? and then they took the pill away from him.”

However, the worst part was after all this. After the medicines were taken away from him, Schaub went ‘cold turkey’. Evidently not an easy task, the journey took him through a rough patch. However, Schaub made it through those dark times, only to emerge as his own personal hero.
