Animal Crossing New Horizons is currently one of the best life simulation games out there. Animal Crossing has been around for a long time on Nintendo platforms, and the series found a rejuvenated fan base with the sequel, New Horizons. This one soon built a dedicated fan base for itself. The title, much like many others, rose to huge popularity last year during the pandemic situation.

This is mainly because the simple relaxing gameplay offers a perfect getaway from the rigors of daily life. As a result, the title has a number of celebrities as a part of its fan base. The most notable example being Brie “Captain Marvel” Larson. It is interesting that the other titles whose popularity peaked during last year have not been able to hold to their glory days this year. However, Animal Crossing New Horizons has been an exception.

A major part of the community life in the game comprises the villagers. Like in an actual neighborhood, there are villagers whom the players love, and the ones they loathe. There is usually a lot of talk about the lovable elements of the game. Now, let us focus on the villagers whose poll numbers seem to keep dropping.

Five villagers in Animal Crossing New Horizons that the community does not seem to love

We will kick this list off with Rodney. This is one character that receives perhaps an insurmountable amount of hate. So much so, that the character has a subreddit dedicated to him, called “F–k Rodney”. There is no particular reason behind this hate. Perhaps it is the way he looks, his smug attitude, and his aggressive temperament that drives players away from him. Well, some players have been trying to redeem Rodney in the eyes of the community with the subreddit “RespectRodney”.

Next up, we have Eloise. Eloise reminds you of that one annoying kid in class who would criticize you on your every move. Eloise will leave no opportunity of criticizing you, the other villagers, as well as the island you live on.

Moving on, we have Barold. More than hate, this character does invoke pity at times. Barold looks like he is struggling every moment to keep his brain from spiraling. He seems to be the proverbial Sisyphus who has no choice but to push a boulder up a mountain every day, that too in vain.

Next up, we have Coco. Let us just say that the feeling the community associates with this one is fear. Coco has three cavities in the name of two eyes and a mouth. He looks like a nightmarish version of the Little Ginger Bread Man. Overall, the community agrees that he is creepy.

Finally, we have Moose. While there is nothing outright annoying about him, we can all probably agree that his catchphrase “shorty” does get on our nerves.

Overall, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has a pretty balanced society to offer. However, there are times when the game feels like more work than it should be, thanks to the aforementioned names.
