India have two prolific batsmen – Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Both of them are two pillers of India who can turn the table any time. We all know how dangerous they both can be in their own day. Virat Kohli may be the one of the greatest batsmen but Rohit Sharma has achieved a coupleof records in ODI cricket which Kohli hasn?t achieved yet. Here are these three records:
1. 3 Double hundreds in ODI cricket
There has been a huge change in Rohit Sharma?s batting approach ever since he was promoted in the opening slot. With time, he has proved his worth andscored a brisk of runs. While no other batsman in the history of ODI cricket has hit more than 1 double hundred there Rohit Sharma already has three of them.
With patience and perseverance, he had scored his maiden double century (209) against Australia in 2013 which included 12 fours and 16 sixes. His second double hundred came a year later when he smashed a whopping 264 against Sri Lanka in Kolkata, which is the highest individual score in ODI cricket so far.
His stunning knock included 33 fours and 9 sixes. He once again smashed a double hundred in 2017 when he single-handedly thrashed the Sri Lanka in Punjab. On the other hand, India captain Virat Kohli has not scored a double hundred yet in ODI cricke.
2. 600 runs in a single ODI tournament
Having considered as one of the best openers in the World Cricket, Rohit Sharma wasin a prolific form throughout the 2019 ICC World Cup tournament. His sublime form helped him scoring a whopping 648 runs at a massive average of 81. With this, he became only the second Indian batsman after Sachin Tendulkar to score 600 runs in a single edition of the World Cup tournament as well.
On the contrary, Virat Kohli has essayed 558 runs against South Africa in the 2018 ODI series. The Indian captain averaged a stunning 186 in that series and helped crushing the South African bowling attack with ease.
3. 5 hundreds in a single ODI tournament
Rohit Sharma is the only cricketer in history of cricket to have scored 5 centuries in a single edition of the World Cup. The record which the great Sachin Tendulkar or Virat Kohli haven’t achieved yet. The flamboyant opener scored a blitzy 122* in the opening fixture of the World Cup against South Africa.
The dangerous opener continued his superb batting as he followed it up with a stunning 140 against their arch-rivals Pakistan. He then scored three more centuries in the consecutive matches against the likes of England, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka respectively.
While Rohit has done something unthinkable, Virat Kohli was not able to score more than 3 ODI centuries in a single tournament. When India toured South Africa last year, Kohli smashed three tons there in the series. However, in the same year, against West Indies Virat Kohli scored three consecutive centuries in the initial three matches of the series as well.
