The 2nd Test Match between India and England kicks off today at the Lord’s, the mecca of cricket. The match has been surrounded by clouds of controversy involving Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and English bowler James Anderdson. Anderson has been charged with a level 3 offence for ‘pushing‘ and ‘abusing‘ Jadeja,  while England retaliated by pressing a level 2 charge against Jadeja.

Both the camps have decided to stand by their respective players and play the blame game. With the pitch at Lord’s expected to offer a lot more to the bowlers than the one at Trent Bridge, what remains to be seen is if this incident will spice things up more than the pitch in the upcoming matches and whether it will affect the spirit in which the matches are played.

This is not the first time that the players have indulged in battles other than the cricketing ones. Similar incidents happened in the 2007 tour when players like Zaheer, KP and Sreesanth were involved. Back then, it led to some fierce competition between bat and ball. After the dreary opening game, let’s hope things get a whole lot more exciting following this altercation.
