The Hero Indian Open 2023 will be held at the DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurgaon from February 23 to 26. This event took a break of three years owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is the thirteenth event on the 2023 European Tour. Stephen Gallacher of Scotland will return to defend the title he earned at the DLF in 2019. Many well-known and skilled golfers, including Robert MacIntyre, Sami Valimaki, and Thorbjorn Olesen, will be participating this year. However, the question is, what would be the prize money? What will the winner take home?

What you need to know about The Hero Indian Open 2023

The Indian Golf Union is in charge of organizing the event since it is the national Open. The recently elected president of the Union is Brijinder Singh. He said, “It is our flagship event, and we look forward to the excitement and bonhomie it brings. Let’s make this event a memorable one.” However, the 2022 PGTI Order of Merit winner, Manu Gandas, will also play. He earned his DP World Tour ticket because of an alliance between the PGTI, the DP World Tour, and the PGA Tour. With his skills, Gandas won a record six domestic events to qualify for the DP World Tour.

The prize money is enormous, but the event brings much more benefits, especially for the winner. The winner will be getting approximately 16 Official World Golf Ranking points. However, these points will be available only based on the field strength. Many significant benefits will come the winner’s way, including a two-plus season exemption on the European Tour. But that’s not the entirety of it…he will also earn tickets to enter other important events.

The entire field will receive 2,750 Race to Dubai points, despite not winning. All the available points will be linked to the tournament’s winnings, which will be in US dollars (USD). The golfer with the most season-long points after the event will win the Race to Dubai and its first-place award with dignity. However, the €6 million Race to Dubai bonus fund will pay the top eight golfers at the end of the season.
