Ohio State Buckeyes made their way to the CFP National Championship final earlier this year. They had star quarterback Justin Fields to thank who put in some eye-catching displays in a season hampered by the COVID-19 crisis. The Georgia-born youngster concluded the season with 2,100 passing yards, 22 passing TDs against 6 interceptions in just 8 games.

Senior NFL reporter Alber Breer was the latest guest on The Rich Eisen Show earlier this week. The draft expert was asked to respond to former NFL quarterback-turned-analyst Dan Orlovsky’s comments regarding Justin Fields and his work ethic.
He replied, “First of all, I really like Dan Orlovsky, he’s a great dude…but I don’t think work ethic has ever been a question with Justin Fields. What I do think the question is going and making a transition from being a collegiate to being a Pro. It’s how he’s going to allocate his hours.”

“Justin, if you look at him, you’re going to see that he works in the weight room like that’s never been a problem. And the fieldwork? I’ve heard from guys in that program that you could come in at 7 AM and there’s Justin throwing, you know, getting extra work in. So I think the thing with Justin is going to be how does he allocate his hours as a Pro,” Breer concluded.
During his two-year stay in Ohio, Fields threw for 5,373 passing yards with 63 passing TDs against just 9 interceptions. He further rushed for 867 yards with 15 rushing TDs to his name. He is currently tipped to join Kyle Shanahan’s San Francisco 49ers as the 3rd overall pick at the upcoming 2021 NFL Draft.
There’s no doubt that the 2019 Heisman Trophy finalist is a top-level NFL prospect. But whether he is able to achieve his maximum potential with the 49ers, remains to be seen.
