Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal has been one of the most exceptional players on the Tour. The manner in which he competes at the highest level despite suffering from injuries, and always finds a way to come back, is truly commendable.
The urge to win after having accomplished almost everything up for grabs makes him an extraordinary champion. Yesterday, Rafa won the Australian Open 2022, making him the first man to win 21 Grand Slam titles.

Everybody loves Rafael Nadal
Interestingly, the Spaniard won the heart of a young fan who was disappointed that he would not be able to see the Spaniard compete anytime soon. Nadal is an athlete who has fans of all ages, but even he wouldn’t have expected such a young child to be so passionate.
The child’s parent, Alex Thatcher, tweeted, “Congratulations Rafael Nadal on such a gutsy comeback win in the Australian Open final. Our two-year-old son is a big fan and has loved watching you. Here’s his reaction when the tournament ended and he couldn’t watch anymore. He wants to keep watching Rafa!”

Reflecting on the final, Nadal took on Medvedev and even before it began, it had all the makings of an epic contest. During the match, Daniil started off brilliantly and won the first couple of sets in no time.
There came a point when the Russian star was very close to breaking Rafa in the third set; he had three break points. However, Nadal, being the fighter that he is, found a way to hold serve and ended up winning the set.
That gave him the needed confidence to put up a contest and eventually sealed the fourth set too. It came down to a one-set shoot-out. Both players gave it their all, and in the end, it was the experience of the Spaniard that helped him cross the finishing line. For now, Nadal will thoroughly be enjoying his moment. We wish him the best of luck for the 2022 season and for the toddler’s sake, we hope he returns to action as soon as possible.
