Israel Adesanya and Paulo Costa despise each other, and it has been a part of the storyline in the build-up to the fight. The fact that both men can not stand each other piques the interest of fans.

Israel Adesanya will defend his title for the second time at UFC 253. He will put his undefeated record on the line against Paulo Costa, who is also undefeated. Costa has been on a tear since joining the UFC Middleweight division.
Since his debut, Costa has stopped all of his opponents besides one. The one man who went the distance against Costa was Yoel Romero.
Ahead of their title fight, Adesanya has frequently accused Costa of using performance-enhancing drugs and said that he would pop Costa before USADA does.
Israel Adesanya gives his thoughts on Paulo Costa being “Clean”
In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, Adesanya was asked about his chat with Costa on ESPN. To which Adesanya replied saying:
“It was a bit awkward at first. [Because] when they put the thing on, I was talking to him and I asked him how many times he’d been tested. [Because] I was tested that week twice by surprise. I was giving him sh*t, and he was giving me sh*t.”

Helwani went on to ask Adesanya if he was concerned that Paulo was not fighting “Clean.” The Nigerian born Adesanya replied saying, “It’s not a concern. But I’ve said it even last year when I wanted to fight him. I said I’ll pop him before USADA does. That will grow my legacy even more.”

In the same interview, Adesanya said, “Tell me what happened to [Uriah] Hall and [Yoel] Romero? Why was it scrapped?… It never came out in the headlines that it was off due to injury. It just said the fight was scrapped. But if the nose knows, the nose knows. “
