While there may be rumors around the league’s cancellation amidst the Coronavirus pandemic, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James is confident of the league’s resumption. James took to Twitter to slash out any rumors that the executives want to cancel the league. The tweet also said that James himself was ready and waiting for the action.
“Saw some reports about execs and agents wanting to cancel season??? That’s absolutely not true. Nobody I know saying anything like that. As soon as it’s safe we would like to finish our season. I’m ready and our team is ready. Nobody should be canceling anything,” a tweet from James’ twitter account on Thursday read.
The NBA suspended its league in March after Rudy Gobert became the first positive case of coronavirus in the league. NBA has since then discussed various possible scenarios considering how the league could resume. Lesser number of such discussions started to come out in the news with the increasing threat of the global pandemic.

Most recently, the league seems to be discussing a possible scenario of playing out the entire season in a single location. A surprising venue that came out was the Disney World. The rumors that James said might be referring to the people on social media spreading that executives were looking to cancel the league.
LeBron James will be aiming to win the title with Los Angeles Lakers
If and when the league does resume, James and the Lakers will have their eyes set on one target- the Championship. The Lakers were on top of the Western Conference prior to the league’s suspension. Only Milwaukee Bucks had a better record than the Lakers. The two were among the favorites to win the title.

For the Lakers, contending for the title is what has been lacking in the last few years. Their last title came in 2010 when they won it for a second consecutive season. Since then, their record in the NBA hasn’t been great. They had missed the presence of a superstar player since the retirement of Kobe Bryant.

In 2018, they signed LeBron James and then Anthony Davis a year later. The two have been leading the team since they got together making the Lakers a strong contender.
