It has been a season of two halves for many teams. However, even after that, the excitement has remained the same. As the league stage is ending, the competition is getting interesting. With many teams still eying a playoff spot, there is a suspense on which team will make the cut. However, it is not limited to the field. A major reason for this is Shohei Ohtani, who is expected to leave the Angels at the end of the season. But his continuous absence from the team’s lineup has brought other permutations.

The Two Way Phenom will test a free agency at the end of the season. With estimates predicting a $500 million deal for him, chances of Ohtani leaving the Angels are looming. But even after it, Ohtani remained committed to finishing the season and played while battling the injuries. But his continuous absence from the tenth game has brought the question: Has Sho-time already called off his time for the Angels?

The second half of the season has gone against the liking of the Japanese wonder. In contrast to the start of the season, Ohtani has struggled to perform. Injuries, cramps, and fatigue have troubled his batting flow. Lately, an injury to his pitching arm also added to the problems.

Though it looked like they might end Ohtani’s absence from another game point otherwise. The prized player made his last appearance against the Oakland Athletics and has been out of playing ever since. They expect him to change the bases at the end of the season, it seems Ohtani has already done that.

Though the Angels skipper continues to show positives, given the multiple injuries, there is a limited chance of him to make a return. But even if Ohtani comes back, the question remains: Can the Angels be able to keep him in Los Angeles?

Is This the End of Troutani?

Ohtani is in demand by many because of his skill set. Teams are ready to spend big bucks to have his signatures. The recent trade window brought teams closer to signing the skilled player. But Ohtani’s commitment forced them to have only conversations.

But the situation has changed. The Angels are not in the race for playoffs. His friend Mike Trout is also injured and is not playing at the moment. Coupled with the downfall of the Angels, the 2021 MVP is staring at another disappointing season.

Given that Ohtani has a dream of winning the championship, a change in base looks real. With strong teams in the market waiting for him, the Angels are unlikely to keep him for another season.
