Former IBF super-middleweight champion Caleb Plant is set to take on former two-division champion David Benavidez for the number one contender’s spot on March 25. The winner of this fight is likely to get the opportunity to challenge the undisputed champion, Canelo Alvarez. Notably, ‘SweetHands’ has already faced Saul, the fight he lost via knockout. Benavidez on the other hand has long been wanting to meet the Mexican superstar in the ring for a title shot. Moreover, this fight will provide certainty about who is the next title challenger.

The build-up to this fight has been quite entertaining with both sides having a lot of bad blood between them. The feud reportedly started when Plant threw a sucker punch at his brother Jose Benavidez Jr.

Jose Benavidez Jr. slams Caleb Plant at the premiere of Creed 3

In a recent interview with ES sports at the premiere of Creed 3, a reporter asked Jose if Plant would dominate his brother. He then went on to slam the former IBF champ calling him names and also warning him. He revealed that Plant had said a few bad things about his hometown of Seattle and should concentrate more on training rather than talking trash.

He’s a b**ch. Why he gonna do that and then he goes and says some dumb sh*t about people in Seattle being snitches or something. What he needs to do is keep training. Don’t worry about that other sh*t cause your f***ing yourself up with that one,” he said. Moreover, he also gave his prediction for the fight. “My brother is gonna fuck**g knock his ass out,” he added.

It seems that Jose is confident that his brother will overcome Plant in their upcoming fight. The 26-0 undefeated boxer is the favorite to win but will not have an easy fight by any means against the veteran Plant who does have a plethora of experience with him.

However, such a level of trolling could also prove to be a double-edged sword for the former IBF champion looking for a resurgence in his career. This fight will certainly be one of the top fights this year and will also help put out a fiery rivalry to rest.
