ATP Appoints a New Chief Executive Officer

The governing body of men’s tennis ATP has announced Massimo Calvelli as their Chief Executive Officer as the present chief Chris Kermode’s tenure will conclude by the end of this month. He will begin with his tenure on January 1, 2020. The 45-year-old Italian Calvelli is an experienced executive.

For the past 20 years, he has been working in global sales, marketing, operations, and product development domain of tennis. He was the unanimous choice of ATP’s Board of Directors.

“I am delighted and honored to be appointed as the new CEO of the ATP,” said Calvelli. “I have been involved in professional tennis for most of my life and I look forward to bringing my passion and knowledge of the sport into this role. It’s a very exciting time to be involved with the ATP Tour as we strive to build on the growth of recent years, and I look forward to getting started in January.”

Previously the former professional tennis player Calvelli was working with the American sports giant Nike. While working there he cracked deals with many sport’s global icons.

He was involved in numerous activities and supervised all aspects of global tennis sports marketing. Before his Nike venture Calvelli was the Global Business Director for Wilson Sporting Goods.

Also  Andrea Gaudenzi has been appointed as the new Chairman of ATP. Gaudenzi will start his service alongside his compatriot Calvelli on January 1, 2020.

“Together with the ATP Board of Directors, I am delighted to welcome Massimo as the new CEO of the ATP. We share a great passion for the sport and I’m confident our diverse business experiences will serve the Tour well as we work on the future direction of men’s professional tennis,” said Gaudenzi.

Both of them will be serving the role of present ATP Executive Chairman and President, Chris Kermode. As his term expires by the end of 2019, Calvelli and Gaudenzi will be his replacement.
