Lewis Hamilton has firmly admitted that an Alonso-Hamilton partnership in the future is impossible. The 4-time World Champion will never be paired up again in Formula 1 with a No. 1 driver like Fernando Alonso. Hamilton made his F1 debut over a decade ago alongside then-reigning world champion Alonso at McLaren.

Hamilton said “That will never happen. Toto understands how the dynamics of a team works and compares it to a magnet. When two north poles meet, they repel one another, so you need a north and a south pole. Two north poles results in negative energy, like in 2007 with Alonso and me.”

Hamilton and Alonso teamed up back in 2007 at McLaren in what turned out to be a fractious relationship. Hamilton came into the team as a rookie. Alonso came into the team as a double World Champion and the more experienced driver. Both racers had something prove and butted heads on and off the track. Alonso expected to show his younger teammate the ropes and dominate, but nobody told Lewis that.

Many Formula 1 fans would give a limb to see the two as team-mates once again. Undoubtedly, an Alonso-Hamilton pairing will be the strongest partnership on the grid, but Hamilton continues to shoot down such a suggestion. Hamilton has just one year left in his contract with his current team Mercedes. Many have linked the Briton with a return to McLaren. Meanwhile, Alonso has just signed a long-term contract extension with the Woking squad.

But Lewis has insisted that he is committed to Mercedes in the long-term. Earlier, there were rumours flying around that Hamilton may don the red Ferrari overalls, a notion that the 32-year old vehemently dismissed. To be honest, Hamilton in a Ferrari seat is highly unlikely and similarly, Hamilton and Alonso would rather avoid a repeat of 2007.
