Ayrton Senna?s Net Worth, Salary and Endorsements

Brazilian driver Ayrton Senna is considered a legend in Formula One. He was beloved in his native Brazil and even in Japan, due to his McLaren Honda connection.

Senna is a 3-time world champion, winning all three for McLaren. He had had a bitter rivalry with Frenchman Alain Prost. Senna made his F1 debut in 1984 with Toleman. His talent was clear when he bagged a podium at the 1984 Monaco Grand Prix for Toleman, an unheralded team.

A year later, he joined Lotus and raced with them for three years. In 1988, he joined McLaren to partner Alain Prost. In his first season itself, he clinched the championship, his first. He took two more in 1990 and 1991.

He stayed with McLaren until the 1993 season, moving to Williams in 1994. Sadly, he never saw out the season as he was killed in a crash in San Marino.

On-track Achievements

In his nearly decade-long career, Senna has had numerous achievements. His maiden podium was a 2nd place in Monaco 1984. He followed it up with two 3rd places in Great Britain and Portugal. A maiden win came in Portugal 1985 followed by another win in Belgium. In 1986, he took two more wins for Lotus at the Spanish GP and the Detroit GP. His final two wins for the British outfit were at Monaco and Detroit.

In 1988, he announced his arrival at McLaren with a bang. Eight wins and three podiums were enough to ensure his maiden title. In 1989, he lost to Prost after a collision with the Frenchman. He tried to rejoin but was disqualified.

A year later, it was deja vu, although this collision occurred at the first corner on the opening lap. In 1991, he took the title again, this time, finishing the race. His final victory was at the 1993 Australian GP.
